Cookbook Launch
Northern Beaches Christian School (NBCS) is celebrating the landscape, lifestyle and community of Sydney's northern beaches with the launch of Northern Beaches Cooks - a unique and stunningly produced cookbook created to raise funds for key school development projects and a range of charitable causes, both local and international.
At first glance Northern Beaches Cooks looks like a special edition cookbook from one of Australia's leading chefs. However, the book is solely the work of our local school community, a wonderful idea born to commemorate the school's Silver Jubilee, and one which quickly gained the attention and support of a number of generous sponsors.
Northern Beaches Cooks is beautifully illustrated with colour photos of every menu item - of which there are more than 200. Images of mouthwatering meals are interspersed with breathtaking scenes from the surrounding locale of Sydney's northern beaches, making it a truly timeless, modern-day classic that is uniquely local.

Excellence in Education
On Wednesday 21st March 2007, the Federal Minister for Education, Science and Training, the Hon Julie Bishop, announced that Northern Beaches Christian School was one of a number of schools being recognised as winners in the 2007 National Awards for Quality Schooling. The announcement took place at a ceremony in the Great Hall of Parliament House, Canberra. Mrs Jenny Exton, Head of Middle Years, received the Award for the school from the Minister on behalf of Mr Stephen Harris, NBCS Principal.
As a school, NBCS was recognised in the only whole school category - 'Excellence in School Improvement', noting its achievements as it has walked a very deliberate pathway in order to provide 'excellence in education' from Kindergarten to Year 12. It is indeed an honour to be recognised in this way.
In addition to this whole school accolade, NBCS received further separate recognition in a second category. NBCS Languages Learning Area Manager and NSW Microsoft Innovative Teacher of the Year 2006, Mr Stephen Collis, individually received an Award from the Minister, recognised within the 'Excellence by a Teacher' category for his outstanding contribution, as a teacher, to both the NBCS community and beyond. This is a very well deserved recognition for Mr Collis who has quickly become a national exemplar for the strength and positive outcomes of his innovative educational work as a Languages teacher.
