In 2020, students in Year 7, Year 10 and Year 11 competed in the Australian Mathematics Competition (AMC). The AMC is for students of all standards and is particularly suited to students who enjoy mathematics. Students are asked to solve 30 problems in 75 minutes. The problems are designed to test mathematical thinking and questions are designed so that they can be answered just as quickly without a calculator as with one. The problems get more difficult through the competition, ensuring that they are challenging to the most gifted students. See photos attached of our students with their certificates.
Students are engaging in several Math events and competitions throughout 2021. Year 7 students will be participating in the Australian Problem Solving Mathematics Olympiad (APSMO) in their classes with the support of their teachers. They will also be participating in a Mathematics incursion in Term 2.
Across all grades, students will be invited to participate in The Australian Maths Trust Olympiad (AMT) and The Australian Mathematics Competition (AMC).
