It has been both a pleasure and a privilege starting at NBCS this year. What an incredible place, with friendly and professional staff and a warm school community. I have loved meeting, speaking with and teaching your children, and I look forward to continuing to grow in my knowledge of this amazing place and its people.
When considering the elements of an effective learning environment, we all have certain images in our minds. A calm, settled and productive school where students are engaged in their learning and enjoying their play. This is the ideal, and it is what we’re aiming for here at NBCS.
The question is, how do we get there? This year we have implemented a new Primary Positive Behaviour Policy. Be Safe, Be Respectful, Be a Learner. These three simple statements encompass the ‘how’ of attaining the effective learning environment that we are aiming for, NB=E.
The teachers have discussed with their students how each of these statements might look in their Stage, and in different areas across the School. It has been wonderful to hear the students’ thoughts on being safe, respectful learners, and to see them putting their thoughts into action.
