Welcome Tania Thompson our new School Counsellor

Jul 27, 2020

Our newest School Counsellor, Mrs Tania Thompson, joined NBCS at the beginning of Term 2, 2020. It was a very tumultuous time in the life of the school with the impact of COVID-19 and our students learning remotely.  Although a tough time for many, Mrs Thompson reflects:

“What I love about my role is the privilege of being able to spend time with young people, sometimes in the hardest or trickiest moments of life for them. I love witnessing the resilience of youth and the potential for growth and change as I spend time with young people. I also love the perspective they bring to issues that may differ from that of adults.”

Mrs Thompson has appreciated being welcomed into the NBCS community and witnessing the passion for learning and a genuine commitment to the wellbeing of our young people.

“I would like the young people of NBCS to know that I love sharing life and their life stories with them. If they feel they would like someone to talk with, please encourage them to come along and make a connection.”

Mrs Thompson’s favourite Bible verse is Jeremiah 29:11, she loves the chocolate brownies from NBCS’s Grounded Cafe, and her professional reading list includes Susan Cain’s “Quiet: The Power of Introverts in a World That Can’t Stop Talking”, Steve Biddulph’s “Raising boys in the 21st Century” and Justin Coulson’s ‘Miss- Connection”.

We’re so thankful that Mrs Thompson has joined the accomplished staff of NBCS and look forward to helping our students love their learning.
