Secondary Ocean Surf Survival Award

$80All students who wish to participate in any of our ocean/open water programs including Beach Sports and Surfing MUST have completed their OSSA.
Please find all the relevant information in the 2025 OSSA Course Information Note for Parents – to be emailed to all families in Year 7 – 9 early Term 3, 2025.
· Surf Awareness, Rip Identification, Surf Survival and Rescue, Basic First Aid
Students must possess a level of physical fitness that enables them to complete the following tasks and consequently obtain their certificate:
A 200m swim in less than five minutes
A surf mission consisting of a 200m swim, a 200m beach run, a 200m surf craft paddle (having been provided training on the day in how to do this), and another 200m beach run.
Demonstrate competency using a surf craft (after receiving training in how to do this)
This course is run over two days.
The theory component will be run on Tuesday 16 September in the RRR room at NBCS from 8:45am – 10:45am
The practical component will be held at Manly Beach on Wednesday 17 September from 10:00am – 2:00pm.
