Year 6 Ocean Safety Program (Term 4)
Fri 31st October, 2025 @ 1:00 pm - Fri 28th November, 2025 @ 2:00 pm
In Term 4, all Year 6 students will participate in an Ocean Safety Program at Dee Why Beach for 5 weeks.
On Fridays from Week 3 to Week 7, students will be transported to by bus to the venue, where they will spend 60 minutes each week learning surf awareness skills. They will learn to understand and negotiate rips, waves and surf conditions, as well as being given opportunities to learn how to use surf paddleboards in the ocean. This program is an additional cost to families and will be billed to school fees accounts.
Students can either elect to do the:
- General ‘Surf Awareness’ program, OR
- OSSA (Ocean Surf Survival Award) – more advanced program. Students who complete their OSSA will be given a certificate to show they have attained this level of ability, which will enable them to participate in many more programs, including surfing and beach sports in secondary school.
This program incurs a cost and is run by SEA. For more information on this program, please view the SEA website.
A more detailed information note will be emailed to all families in Term 3.
