Seven Year 11 students, accompanied by Ms Tolmie and Mr Linfoot, experienced a life-changing trip to the United Nations International School conference in New York, with 1600 students from 90 countries in attendance.
As conference delegates, the students discussed solutions to this year’s topic – the UN sustainable development goal “Equal Rights, Equal Heights. Climbing the ladder to gender equality”.
Our students also enjoyed an action-packed tour of New York. Sites including The Met, MOMA, The Intrepid Warship Museum, Times Square, ice skating at the Rockefeller Centre, the Natural History Museum, Statue of Liberty, Summit One Vanderbilt, Central Park, Hadestown on Broadway, dinner and a show at a jazz club and an NBA game.
“We could not have been more impressed or proud of the way the students represented NBCS and their country both at the conference and throughout the trip. They demonstrated generosity, kindness, thoughtfulness, fabulous manners, and gratitude for being able to see and experience this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity,” said Ms Tolmie.
