NBCS HSC students have received 22 nominations for the 2024 HSC showcases.
Nominated in Music for the ENCORE showcase is Megan Scott, who sang a late 19th Century French romantic piece, ‘Villanelle des petits canards’ as part of her repertoire.
Grace Barnes was nominated for the HSC OnSTAGE Showcase for her individual Drama performance and along with her group for their strong shared performance.
Her nominated performances were ‘I’m Breaking Down’, a musical theatre-style monologue, with dialogue developed by Grace under the expert instruction of her teacher, Mr Owen, and ‘Kindy News’, written and performed with Orlaith Keogh, Holly McWilliams and Aidan McDonald. Both performances caught the eye of the markers as exemplary works reflecting high achievement.
NBCS Drama teacher, Isaac Owen, has taught and guided these four Drama students throughout Secondary, both in curriculum courses, and in extra-curricular activities such as TheatreSports and said: “It’s great to see students get the acknowledgement they so clearly deserve from many years of commitment to Drama.”
English Extension Two students, Ella Browning and Alex Hall were nominated for the Young Writers Showcase for their major projects.
