Year 11 student Josh Lee and Year 7 student Nathan Cole received special recognition at the NSW CIS (Combined Independent Schools) sports association awards dinner recently for their excellence in representative sport at the highest level in 2023.
Josh is an elite-level diver and represented NSW at the national schools’ championships, winning the 16 years boys’ platform and synchronised events and coming second in the springboard event.
Nathan was a member of the NSW CIS Primary cricket team that was named Primary Team of the Year. Both boys were commended for their sportsmanship and dedication.
The pathway for elite sports people to be selected in State and National sporting teams is through the Christian Schools Sports Association (CSSA) and the Combined Independent Schools (CIS). Students who achieve high placings at a CSSA State Carnival go on to compete at CIS level. Students are also able to trial for some CIS teams directly.
Northern Beaches Christian School understands the training needs and schedules of elite athletes and works with our student athletes to provide as-needed support for schoolwork and assessments.
