In Term 1 we released our 2026-2028 Strategic Plan, adding a seventh strategic priority to our previous six. That seventh priority: Community.

It may seem strange that we needed to add it. The NBCS community is already a wonderful collection of families, students and staff.

We want to connect, we want to grow, and we want to do it together. Not that we did not do this before, but we want to do more of it to benefit us all. Healthy communities, connected communities, are a productive and protective factor in the lives of families. In a world that has atomised into its component parts, we want NBCS to be a strong part of the fibres and fabric of connection.

In a world where it is too easy to go it alone, to be isolated, to think we have to do it all ourselves as a family, where too many struggle through without support, our aim is to build, protect and strengthen the links that enable us to do more and be more together.

From our Strategic Plan

Community is developed through connection, belonging, and shared purpose. We want every student, staff member and family to be known, supported, and engaged within our community.

By fostering respectful relationships, meaningful partnerships, and authentic experiences, we create a culture where everyone can contribute and grow. Together, we are shaping active, informed individuals who understand their impact, care for others, and help our school and community to flourish.

Our priorities are as follows:

  • Build connections to strengthen belonging and shared purpose.
  • Develop a strong and connected staff community.
  • Foster meaningful and authentic partnerships with parents through family-focused events.
  • Engage within and beyond our community in showcasing student capacity, involvement and learning.
  • Create opportunities, programs and spaces to connect past, present and future elements of our community.

On that note, I want to thank all involved in our inaugural NBCS Community Golf Day held in Term 1. A massive thanks to the staff who planned, organised and carried out the day. A massive thanks to Terrey Hills Golf and Country Club who hosted the day. And a massive thanks to our sponsors. Together, they contributed to a wonderful event, connecting those within and beyond our community, and supporting the work of the Salvation Army down in Manly. We look forward to the prospect of this event next year, and are working on some other events that will likewise connect various elements within our community.
