It takes effort to make peace

Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace.

Over the past week we have celebrated Reconciliation Week. As Paul says, it takes effort to make peace. Reconciliation doesn’t just happen by itself. This is true of our personal relationships, and it’s true of the relationship between Indigenous and non-Indigenous Australians.

At NBCS, we celebrate that Jesus made the effort to pursue peace with us. He paid the cost to get us back because it was more costly for him to not be in relationship with us. I know I’m thankful that he made the first step. And if we can get a hold of this, it can help us to acknowledge our wrongs, say sorry when we need to, and have the strength to forgive.
